I enylish I knew Bengali so that I could compare this translation with Sharadindu Bandhopadhyay’s original, but alas! Detective fiction has never lacked devoted fans. While I think Monimala Dhar, the translator, seems to have done a decent job, there could have been more tight editing of her English. The undying popularity of Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot vouch for that fact. Some stories were quite similar to the Feluda stories and some were quite simple.
